Why choose a peel treatment as part of your skin care routine?
It’s no secret… I love peels on my skin. They work for me and if I have something on a peel is my go to treatment.
So why do I love them so much? What’s not to love?
Peels have amazing benefits once used correctly. They exfoliate the skin to start with, they feed the skin with active ingredients and they leave you feeling refreshed.
Here are some common questions I get asked
Who do peels suit?
Most skin types are suitable for peels. A consultation form will be completed prior to treatment to ensure you are suitable. I always have clients prep with specific products for two weeks before a peel treatment for best results. This can often be a reason people don’t do peels. It’s not a sales gimmick by me or other therapists, it is for your safety. Peels have high concentration of active ingredients. If I were to apply a peel that has 30% glycolic acid or even higher, and your skin had never had any of this ingredient introduced to it, what would happen? It would get a really big shock. This is why we prep the skin. If you are consistently using small percentages of an ingredient that will be in a peel, your skin will already be used to it and it will work with it, not resist it. That is the easiest way I can explain so I hope I’m making sense!
Peels are great for:
Anti aging – fine lines
Skin texture
Acne or breakouts
Open pores
Tired looking skin
Dry and dehydrated skin
Pigmentation and the list goes on
Do you peel after?
You may experience some mild flaking in areas for 1-3 days post treatment but this varies. Generally you will be a little pink after the peel but this settles very quickly
Treatment time? The peels are very fast and active so are left on for 2-3 mins. Allow 30 minutes for total treatment
Who are the most common people that get peel treatments?
It varies greatly but I find they are very popular with brides as part of a programme in the lead up to the big day. Clients with congestion and breakouts get great results also.
How many do I need?
I always recommend a course of 4 but each skin is different and sometimes 1 or 2 is all that is needed. This will be discussed in the initial consultation
